The Halifax Regional School Board is experiencing challenges of aging facilities, declining enrolments, unpredictable regional development, and limited funding. The effects are excess capacity in many of the board’s schools; overcrowding in others; and difficulty in providing school programming, modern technology, arts and music opportunities and physical activity options. Viridia co-coordinated an extensive community consultation process for the Halifax Regional School Board’s 10-Year Master Plan. This consultation process spanned over two years and involved more than 2,500 people in the first year and 2,750 in the second year during 8 rounds of public meetings.
